Disjointed Memories

Sit down and scroll. There is a looped projection of a teenage girl scrolling through her memories, only accessible through her camera roll. The soundtrack is the same girl scrolling and interacting with the new media app TikTok for just ten minutes out of her “session”. The aluminum foil room represents the dulled glowing that we’re always looking at through our personal devices. Imagine the screen as your eyes and that you are sitting in a brain. Our brains cannot rest fully when there is obtrusive light/ sounds. Aluminum foil has a history of practical uses, and need for rationing in our past. We use aluminum foil for TV dinners. People believe it can be used to block signals. This idea originated from a TV being left on, the glow of the room. I find it painful how people cling to their phones, where everything exists, like memories. I am allergic to metal, so the actual installation of creating the mind on our phones was painful for me.
